Dictation for non-native English speakers

You know exactly what you want to tell the customer. The hard part is the twenty minutes spent checking every article, tense and preposition before you press Send. BabaVoices lets you say it out loud, the way it comes out, and returns clear and correct English that you can paste into email or chat.

The live app. Pick your English variety in Settings, tap the mic, and talk.

The problem is not your English. It is the time it costs.

Millions of people run front offices, answer customer service inboxes, coordinate crews and manage tenants in English while speaking another language at home. Most of them speak English well enough to do the job every day. What slows them down is writing it. A spoken conversation forgives a missing "the" or a wrong tense; a written email to a customer feels permanent, so every sentence gets read three times, pasted into a translator, read again, and second-guessed. A reply that should take one minute takes fifteen, and there are forty of them a day.

BabaVoices is built around a simple idea: speaking is the fast part, so start there. You talk through the reply in your own words, with your own accent and your own rhythm. The browser turns the speech into text, and BabaVoices' Polish step, which uses Anthropic's Claude, fixes the grammar, the articles, the word order and the punctuation, removes the "um" and "how do you say," and gives you back a message that reads like a fluent colleague wrote it. It is still your message. Polish is told to keep what you meant and not to add facts or promises you didn't make.

How a typical day looks with it

Picture the front-office coordinator of a small roofing company. A customer writes at 7 a.m. asking why the crew didn't come yesterday. She already knows the answer: the shingles arrived late and the crew is coming Thursday morning. On her phone she opens BabaVoices, taps the mic and says it, roughly, the way she would explain it on the phone. Polish turns it into three tidy sentences. She taps Share, chooses Gmail, checks the name, and sends it from the parking lot. The whole thing takes under a minute, and she didn't open a translator once.

  1. Set your English variety once. In Settings, choose the English closest to how you speak: India, Nigeria, the Philippines, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and others. Recognition is noticeably better when it expects your accent.
  2. Talk in whole thoughts. Don't stop to fix mistakes. Say the sentence again if you want; Polish keeps the last version.
  3. Polish, read, send. When you stop, the text is copied. Press Polish (or turn on automatic Polish), read it once, and paste.

When the words only come in your own language

Sometimes the thought simply arrives in Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese or Hindi. Dropping a word or short phrase from your language into an English sentence often works, because Polish can usually tell what it means from context and returns the sentence in English. For a whole message spoken in another language, today the reliable path is two steps: set the dictation language to your language and dictate, then open the Reader, paste the text, and use Auto-Translate into English, then Polish the result. A one-step "speak any language, get English" mode is part of BabaVoices' plan; until it reaches your account, the two-step path works in any supported browser.

Before and after

Here is a reply to a tenant about a repair, spoken quickly by someone whose first language is not English.

What you said

Hello Mister Patel, um about the leaking in kitchen, so plumber he is coming tomorrow in the morning between nine and eleven, eh, please somebody must be in apartment for open the door, if nobody is there he cannot do the work and we need to make new appointment, how you say, reschedule. Thank you for patience.

After Polish

Hello Mr. Patel,

About the leak in the kitchen: the plumber is coming tomorrow morning between 9 and 11. Please make sure someone is in the apartment to open the door. If nobody is there, he won't be able to do the work and we'll need to reschedule.

Thank you for your patience.

The changes are the ones a careful editor would make: articles added ("the leak," "the plumber"), the doubled subject removed ("plumber he"), "for open" fixed to "to open," and the times written as numbers. The message keeps the same facts, the same politeness and the same length. Nothing was invented.

Honest limitations

Privacy. BabaVoices never receives your audio; your browser's speech service turns it into text. Text you polish passes through our server to Anthropic's Claude, isn't used for training, and Polish itself doesn't store it; if you sign in, history sync keeps it in your account (except on the Private plan). Frequently asked questions

Will it understand my accent?

Speech recognition is done by your browser, and it handles many accents well, especially when you choose the closest English variety in Settings: BabaVoices offers English for India, Nigeria, the Philippines, Kenya, South Africa, the UK, the US and more. Speaking a little slower than usual and using a headset mic both help.

Can I mix my language with English?

A word or phrase from another language inside an English sentence is often understood from context, and Polish returns the sentence in English. Long stretches in another language are better handled by setting the dictation language to that language and translating the result, as described on this page.

Does Polish change what I meant?

Polish fixes grammar, word order, articles, punctuation and filler words. It is told to keep your meaning and not add facts. Always read the result before sending, and use Undo if something reads wrong.

Will I learn better English, or just depend on the tool?

Comparing what you said with the polished version shows the same few corrections again and again, such as missing articles or verb tenses. Many people start fixing those on their own. BabaVoices' Coach feature is designed to point these patterns out directly.

Is my text private?

BabaVoices never receives your audio. Polished text passes through the BabaVoices server to Anthropic's Claude; it is not used for training, and Polish itself does not store it; if you sign in, history sync keeps it in your account (except on the Private plan).
